As part of the scheme, pupils are introduced to instruments such as glockenspiels, recorders and ukuleles along with other percussion instruments and if children play band/orchestral instruments, we encourage them to use those instruments in the music lesson.
Pupils can also elect to receive music teaching through Rocksteady workshops which are delivered to groups of pupils weekly. Rocksteady is the leading provider of in-school band lessons for primary age children. Pupils rehearse and perform together and this is celebrated in whole school performances led by the Rocksteady teacher.
‘Our inclusive approach helps children find a sense of belonging through new friendships and a shared love for music, whilst boosting social skills, wellbeing and confidence.’ Rocksteady
Each week, all pupils take part in a ‘Sing Up’ assembly in the school hall and learn a broad range of songs that relate to essential values and the wider world.
