Design Technology
At King’s Park Academy, our Design and Technology curriculum equips children with the skills, creativity, and knowledge to become innovative problem-solvers. We offer learning in an inspiring, rigorous, and practical approach with the aim to nurture curiosity and resilience while encouraging pupils to create purposeful solutions to real-world challenges. We use the ‘Projects on a Page’ resources from the Design and Technology Association to shape our D&T curriculum. These expertly designed materials help us deliver high-quality, engaging D&T lessons that build practical skills, creativity, and problem-solving across all year groups.
- Innovation and Creativity: Our curriculum fosters innovation by encouraging children to explore, design, and create in a variety of contexts, helping them to develop resourceful and enterprising attitudes.
- Skills and Knowledge Development: Children learn key technical skills and develop substantive and disciplinary knowledge, understanding the processes involved in designing, making, and evaluating products.
- Cross-Curricular Links: Design and Technology is seamlessly connected to other subjects, including mathematics, science, and computing, enabling children to apply their knowledge and skills in meaningful ways.
- Inspiring and Practical Learning: We provide a hands-on, practical curriculum that engages children in real-world problems and encourages them to take risks, work collaboratively, and learn from mistakes.
