King's Park Academy

Design Technology

At King’s Park Academy, our Design and Technology curriculum equips children with the skills, creativity, and knowledge to become innovative problem-solvers. Within each Design & Technology project delivered through the Cornerstones curriculum we offer learning in an inspiring, rigorous, and practical approach with the aim to nurture curiosity and resilience while encouraging pupils to create purposeful solutions to real-world challenges.

  • Innovation and Creativity: Our curriculum fosters innovation by encouraging children to explore, design, and create in a variety of contexts, helping them to develop resourceful and enterprising attitudes.
  • Skills and Knowledge Development: Children learn key technical skills and develop substantive and disciplinary knowledge, understanding the processes involved in designing, making, and evaluating products.
  • Cross-Curricular Links: Design and Technology is seamlessly connected to other subjects, including mathematics, science, and computing, enabling children to apply their knowledge and skills in meaningful ways.
  • Inspiring and Practical Learning: We provide a hands-on, practical curriculum that engages children in real-world problems and encourages them to take risks, work collaboratively, and learn from mistakes.
