King's Park Academy

ART

At King’s Park Academy, our Art and Design curriculum is designed to inspire and nurture creativity, curiosity, and confidence in every child. Within each project delivered through the Cornerstones curriculum, we aim to provide a rich, inclusive, and progressive learning journey in Art and Design. We are fortunate to also have a fully equipped kitchen and textiles room to enhance pupils’ experiences within this subject and beyond.

  • Skills and Knowledge Development: Our curriculum ensures the simultaneous teaching of substantive knowledge (the facts, concepts, and skills associated with art) and disciplinary knowledge (how to think and work like an artist).
  • Artistic Capability: We strive to develop children’s technical abilities, fostering their understanding of a broad range of materials, techniques, and processes.
  • Creativity, Diversity, and Imagination: Through exploring diverse artistic traditions and movements, we encourage children to express their unique ideas while appreciating different cultures and perspectives.
  • Interconnected Curriculum: Our Art and Design framework is carefully sequenced, interconnected with the wider curriculum, and ensures continuity and progression from Early Years to Key Stage 2.
